All proceeds from Wine Around the Square fund vital services such as mammograms, screenings, diagnostics, ultrasounds, MRI scans, patient education, transportation and lodging for treatment, and life-saving equipment for those facing breast cancer’s toughest challenges.

Her best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago. The next year, Patty Marschel said “yes” to raising funds so that no Rutherford County woman is ever without a screening mammogram. The Power of Pink program was founded more than a decade ago by Patty Marschel and over the years has been assisted by Rita Ash, Leslie Akins, Caroline Lampley, Dave Davis, Anne Davis and Max Moss among many volunteers. Over the past twelve years, the Power of Pink has raised more than $2,000,000 for local friends and neighbors who need potentially life-saving procedures. Now in its 13th year, Wine Around the Square continues to provide the greatest source of funding for the ASTR Foundation’s Power of Pink Fund.
The Impact
Over the past 15 years, we have raised over $2,000,000 to benefit the Power of Pink. This incredible support has enabled us to fund over 24,000 mammograms and screenings, diagnostics, ultrasounds, and MRI scans. Additionally, Power of Pink has provided over 423 rides to and from oncology appointments, offered patient education, and supplied life-saving equipment to those facing the most challenging circumstances. Moreover, we have distributed 550 Breast Cancer Education Books to patients, empowering them with vital knowledge.
